Coming to us having been owned by the previous owner for 14 years. He has always looked after it and rode it whenever he got the chance. Unfortunately this got less and less and between 2013 and 2018 it stood more or less unused. He did however put it back on the road in 2018 when he had two new tyres fitted, new battery, carbs cleaned, brake calliper seals and a service and MOT carried out,This cost him over £700 which is ironic as 700 miles later he decided due to advancing age and not feeling to bright, to give up riding so £1 a mile.
It then stood under cover until we purchased it. Now back up on its toes, we had to un-seize the rear calliper and change the fluid. We fitted new EBC pads all round, a new battery, air filter, oil filter and oil plus replaced a leaking t-piece we found on the water system so its had fresh antifreeze as well. Mechanically its now on the button again and sounds great on the motor. Cosmetics are actually pretty good as well, a few dinks and marks here and there but considering its age. It is mostly original but It does has stainless exhaust down pipes (pretty sure that’s not original all be it they are a good thing to have) coupled to its original silencer. Unfortunately someone has done what more or less everyone did back in the day and removed the tail section of the rear mudguard and fitted the obligatory after market front and rear indicators. Past this and the dark screen on the fairing it has survived all these years pretty well original.
It has 56555 on the clock, but there is a strong suspicion that it would of been a parallel import when new and has had a used but MPH speedo fitted at some point? But even if not, then i don’t suppose an average of 1700 miles a year is exactly high usage. Anyway at £2795 in this condition,with a new MOT, it looks stunning value for what is after all a superb superbike from the early 90s and have a look at their prices now, they are on the way up, big time!.
