Yamaha XS250 1978 ” A little cheapy”

While, no not as sought after as their 2 stroke siblings the RD range, these now rare Xs 250s do have a place in peoples hearts as what they had back in the day. Values are slowly beginning to rise and why shouldn’t they? The XS was always the more dependable choice for doing miles, commuting and or touring on and as such were used heavily, often by people with absolutely no mechanical sympathy, but they just came back for more! All this means few have remained on our roads today. This particular example came in from Europe, imported by its previous owner. on arrival in 2022 he spent £1587 on having it fully checked over, new tyres, ignition, brakes, serviced etc ( we have the receipt in its file). He did use it but then it stood in his personal collection until it arrived with us. Today it still runs and rides nicely. It does however have a few small problems and with us not having time on hand at the moment we are offering it at a reduced price and selling it as a project. While all the electrics function, the high low switch has lost its knob as the small piece of plastic that it attaches to is missing. The starter button is present and working but keeps trying to make a break for freedom, hence the tape to stop us from loosing it, but that’s more or less it as far as we can see. The cosmetics are pretty good, just some small chips in the paint on the tank and as you can see, one side strip under the seat is missing. Neither of which really detract from it if you don’t want a show queen.
