If your reading this listing you dont need me to tell you just how “right” Honda got it with the VFR750 range in the late 90s. They quickly got the reputation of being an almost unbreakable bike capable of mixing it with the then crop of full sports bikes or eating up the miles on a European tour. Honda definitely over engineered them with their gear driven cam system to get away from the poor reputation of the cam chain engine’d V4s that preceded them. This very nice example, a 1997 Fv model has only 30K on the clock and is in all round great condition. While in its history file there are all its old MOTs to back up the low mileage ( less than 100 miles in the last 3 as the owner had more or less given up riding but it still went to the MOT station each year) unfortunately we do not have the service book so while we are told it had new chain and sprockets, front brake callipers over hauled with new seals, new tyres front and rear, plus an oil and filter change, all in the last 200 miles as well as an up rated regulator /recifier and a clutch slave cylinder rebuild previously, we cannot prove this but “eyes dont lie” and its obviously been done. The bike also has the expensive Oxford products heated grips, LED head light conversion, a Scott oiler and as you can see in the pictures a nice size rear rack and top box, plus the pillion seat rear cover. It does have a Spyball alarm fitted but i just dont trust them so have not tried to arm it, just in case, as the bike runs so well as it is.
Cosmetically it is in very good order through out so its good news all round really. The only fly in the ointment is way back in 1999 it had a Cat C (cosmetic only) insurance claim. Now those of you out there that are old enough, will remember that back then NU used to just replace a bike no matter, if you made a claim when it was less than 18 months old, with absolutely no evidence of damage on the bike you can only assume that’s the case? But its listed so its only fare to point it out, even if it was 26 years ago! Lets face it here are very few 28 year old bikes that have not fallen over at some point in their life.
So there you have it, a low mileage, good condition VFR750 with virtually new tyres, etc etc, ready to go for less than the price of a cheap Chinese 125!
