Found lurking at the back of a shed, where it had been for many years, is this 1980 TS185ER with silly low miles on the clock. Claimed to of been a one owner bike but unfortunately, as paperwork was lost and it had been unregistered for so long it had dropped off the DVLA register so we had to re-reg it, so still on its correct age related V plate but no way of tracing it. While sitting for so long it had picked up various scratches caused by kids push bikes etc and was about an inch deep in dust, but no rust at all.
We set out on a full cosmetic refresh and now it is excellent condition through out ( Note: the original seat cover has one small split in the embossed pattern but seemed a shame to change it, having survived so long). Paint was professionally matched and laid on with new tank graphics, side panels were not touched as no marks to talk of. New tyres were fitted as the originals were still on it and had split from old age. Carb was stripped, cleaned and rebuilt. Tank was lovely inside so needed no more than a rinse to get the old fuel out ( remember when they didnt put rubbish aka ethanol in our fuel, so tanks didn’t rot out!), new plug and off it went. It pulls surprisingly well for a 185, sounds great. So there you have it, a very pretty and very rare in the metallic green colour,1980 TS185ER 46 year old Suzuki that’s barely run in. Mad eh!
