Suzuki GT250 1975 “A cheapy”

Now before I start, yes i know this GT250 Suzuki is not a perfect, all original bike and yes you will need to either just get on it and enjoy, spend some time on the cosmetics and enjoy or if you are a “bean counter”, walk on by. Coming to us from a contact of ours that breaks bikes, he had purchased a pair of GTs, both of which had stood for a long time. But when they arrived with him he realised that under the dirt etc this one was ultimately saveable and rang me. I thought the same and so another “rescue” jobbie was embarked on. First off was to get the old boy running to check out the motor. Spent a good few hours on the carbs, dont you just love the smell of very stale petroleum in the morning! Those done and an independent fuel supply attached, off he went like a swiss watch, result! Tank was then thoroughly cleaned and a new fuel tap fitted with ethanol proof fuel lines replaced the old original tap that was beyond redemption. Clocks were in a bad way so a replacement set have been fitted, so no not thge originals but a matched pair that both work correctly. A new battery was fitted and the electrics were gone through and now also all work. Front brake master cylinder has been replaced with an after market one and front calliper was stripped, cleaned and reassembled so brakes are now all good. Its drive chain had rusted solid so thats been replaced, same for the handle bars. Cosmetically, as you can see it has its original front and rear guards but the front has had its leading edge trimmed and the rear does have areas off corrosion, still solid though and easy to have restored if required. The original chain guard and exhausts yes are old, but still polish up nicely. Front tyre is very good, rear not so and to be honest, i would recommend changing it fairly soon. So there you have it, if you want a cheap classic Jap two stroke that you can get on and use, or even the base for a bit of “resto” work to improve, this could well be it. Thanks. G
